MoDOT Held Public Hearing for Route 109/W Resurfacing Project
Tuesday, August 10 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Missouri Department of Transportation recently held a public hearing on Tuesday, August 10. MoDOT displayed the public preliminary plans for safety and pavement improvements on Route 109 and Route W in the following areas:

• Route 109 from the Meramec River Bridge to Route W

• Route W from Route 109 to the Big River Bridge

Roadway improvements and resurfacing upgrades to these highways need to be done to address safety concerns and preserve the life of the pavement.

The public hearing was held Tuesday, August 10 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at High Ridge Fire Department, located at 2842 High Ridge Boulevard, High Ridge, Missouri 63049

The public hearing was an open-house format, which means no formal presentations were made. Maps and other detailed project information were available. Participants were welcomed to submit comments during the public hearing, as well as ask MoDOT experts about the plans for the project. Written statements will be made a part of the hearing if received within ten days after the date of the public hearing.

The following improvements to Route 109/W are being proposed:

• Route 109 from the Meramec River Bridge to Route W will be resurfaced.

• Route W from Route 109 to the Big River Bridge will also be resurfaced.

• Shoulders will be constructed where possible along these routes.

• A left turn lane will be added at Twin Rivers Road, Byrnesville Road and Winnifred Drive.

• The alignment of Route W at LaFarge Drive will be improved.

There will be various lane closures with flagging operations to help keep traffic moving smoothly along these routes. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2013 and is expected to be complete in summer 2014. The estimated cost for the Route 109/W Resurfacing Project is $4.5 million.
