MoDOT is conducting an environmental and location study to evaluate potential future transportation needs along a 47-mile stretch of Route 63, from 1/2 mile south of the Route 50/63 junction to just north of Rolla. The study is an objective process to help determine what actions, if any, are needed to best serve the transportation needs of the area.
November 2008 UPDATE
The U.S. Route 63 preliminary draft environmental document is currently under review. The study team anticipates having a public hearing and a 45-day comment period on the approved draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) sometime in early 2009. The approved DEIS will show the recommended preferred alternative for the entire 47-mile stretch from just south of the Route 50/Route 63 interchange to just north of Rolla. Substantive comments received on the approved DEIS at the public hearing in early 2009 will help us select an alternative for eventual construction.
