General The Materials Manual is published by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and is intended to be used in conjunction with the Missouri Standard Specifications For Highway Construction and the Missouri Standard Plans For Highway Construction as a guideline for the inspectors, designers, manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, and city and county representatives to ensure that all materials used for construction and maintenance needs, meet the required specifications.  This information is presented in text, figures, and tables.

The manual is provided in Acrobat Reader format. To use the manual as it is intended, you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader.  Follow the link at the bottom left of the screen.

It is suggested you start with first reading the Readme file below. This file outlines how to download the manual, where to place the files, how to start using the manual, some helpful hints for moving around the manual, and how to search the manual. The indicated links connect to the individual sections of the Materials Manual.  Many links go directly to the Adobe Acrobat file and may be viewed directly.  Files are available to download entire sections of the manual as well. Any link referencing the automation section and the approved lists will not function.  Materials Engineering is currently reviewing the policy for these issues and recommendations will be implemented in a timely fashion.
